Beating the speed limit

They successfully detected an unbearable phenomenon that is a nuisance to all, and carried out a targeted assassination that naturally spilled over into the viral from the physical realm. “Distance”, the French chain of running equipment, ingeniously campaigned against the lowering of the speed limit in Paris.

“Distance”, the French chain of running equipment, recently made a brilliant move and joined the public the outrage against the decision to reduce the speed limit in Paris to 30kmh. For enforcement, the Paris municipality placed thousands of speed cameras on every street corner and the police began handing out heavy fines. The public outraged, and Distance (or more precisely, BETC public image company) joined in the action. Instead of trying to convince potential buyers why they must have their special sports gear, they simply sent people to run on the streets of Paris to trick the speed limit cameras, thus proving the change in policy as a failure.

The cost? Close to zero. The result? A huge buzz and a sweeping trend. The campaign even won a golden trophy at the prestigious Clio prize at the latest Cannes Film Festival.
